Strava’s iPhone app now works with Apple’s new AirPods Pro 3 fitness feature

Starting today, Strava users can now record their workouts and access the AirPods Pro 3’s latest workout feature. Strava says it works as a standalone AirPods experience or alongside the Apple Watch.

Strava for iPhone can now read heart rate data from AirPods and Apple Watch

The latest version of Strava specifically calls for training support for AirPods Pro 3.

“Now when you wear AirPods Pro 3 during a workout, Strava can stream your heart rate live to Mobile Record, straight from your ears,” says Strava.

Apple’s new AirPods Pro 3 earbuds are the first AirPods to include built-in heart rate tracking – no Apple Watch required.

If you train with an Apple Watch, Strava will use the best heart rate data available, giving you more accurate workout tracking.

“Pair them with Apple Watch and the two devices work together, automatically selecting the strongest signal so you get the most accurate reading, whether you’re running, cycling, or lifting weights. No extra setup, no extra equipment, just press Save.”

Strava adds that the new feature requires iOS 18 or later with AirPods Pro 3.

You can also track physiotherapy exercises with Strava

Earlier this month, Strava added a new sport category for tracking: physical therapy.

“Keep the streak alive with your physical therapy exercises, see how often you do calf raises and how much total time you spend doing physical therapy each week and month,” Strava announced.

Between physical therapy exercise tracking and AirPods Pro 3 support, this makes for a pretty good pair of Strava releases.

Strava has also released offline maps for Apple Watch and a fun list of new workout types so far this year.

You can download the Strava app for iPhone for free from the App Store. The AirPods Pro 3 are currently available for $229 (reg. $249) on Amazon.
