The Ted Lasso actor who played Dani Rojas is now a professional footballer

The hit series Ted Lasso on Apple TV inspired viewers to “believe,” and it seems that message resonated strongly with the show’s cast as well. Dani Rojas actor Cristo Fernández has just signed a contract to become a professional footballer.

Cristo Fernández signs contract with professional soccer team

Cristo Fernández, the actor who played “football is life” Dani Rojas in Ted Lasso, has just turned his dreams into reality.

El Paso Locomotive FC announced today that it has signed Fernández as a striker. The signing follows “an extensive two-month trial with the team where (Fernández) became a regular presence in training and participated in a preseason match against New Mexico United.”

Fernández played the game as a youth, but retired at age 15 due to injury. Now he’s giving it another shot, channeling Ted Lasso’s “Believe” energy.

Here’s what Fernández said in the El Paso press release:

“Football has always been an integral part of my life and my identity, and no matter where life has taken me, the dream of competing professionally has never really left my heart. I am incredibly grateful to El Paso Locomotive FC – the club, coaches, staff and especially my teammates – for opening the doors and giving me the opportunity to compete from day one.

This return to professional soccer is about believing in yourself, taking risks and continuing to pursue your dreams, even if the path may be unexpected. Because as they say in Mexico: hay que seguirle echando ganas (let’s keep giving everything). Always agreed with Dios, my family and my friends to create in me. Maybe I’m just a crazy guy with crazy dreams…so being here with the “Locos” makes perfect sense. “Go Locos!” »

The team’s head coach added that Fernández’s “passion for the game and leadership qualities in our locker room allow us to continue to develop the positive culture we aspire to as a club.”

It looks like Cristo Fernández is the real Dani Rojas, and now he’s going to prove it.

If you’re interested in more Ted Lasso, season 4 will premiere in August. It is currently unknown if Rojas will make any appearances. However, he is no longer expected to be a series regular as the plot focuses on a female team.
