RGG’s Stranger Than Heaven game is coming this winter

Ryu Ga Gotoko will be released Stranger than paradise this winter, the studio announced it during the game’s Xbox showcase. It also released a new trailer and shared more details about the game, including the actors involved in the project. Stranger than paradise will revolve around Makoto Daito, a half-Japanese, half-American boy whose story begins in 1915 when he sneaks onto a ship owned by a smuggler played by Snoop Dogg. Daito goes on a trip to Japan, believing he will never be fully accepted in the United States.

The game spans five decades and follows the protagonist’s journey across the country until he becomes Makoto Tojo, the founder and first president of the Tojo clan. In 1915, the game takes place in Kokura, Fukuoka. In 1929, it’s Kure, Hiroshima, then Minami, Osaka in 1943. The game then moves to Atami, Shizuoka in 1951, and finally Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1965. At the start of the trailer, you’ll hear an adult Daito talking about the creation of the Tojo clan, a group particularly featured in RGG’s Yakuza series. Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of most Yakuza games, was part of the Tojo clan and even became its fourth president.

In addition to Snoop Dogg, the cast includes Yu Shirota as Makoto Daito, as well as Bunta Sugawara, who died more than 10 years ago but whose portrait was used in the game. Gosu players Note, Sugawara was a prolific actor who became famous for portraying the title character in the yakuza film series Battles Without Honor and Humanity.
