Apple’s Health app received some welcome improvements in iOS 26.4, and rumors indicate that Apple will soon deliver major upgrades in iOS 27.

Apple’s Health app received two new features in iOS 26.4, both of which involve sleep data.
First, in the “Highlights” section of the Sleep and Sleep Score screens, you’ll find a new bedtime highlight.
Bedtime Highlight visualizes your recent bedtimes with a bar graph. You can see the last two weeks of bedtime at a time, along with two useful metrics: average bedtime and last night’s bedtime.
Highlights is one of my favorite features in the Health app, so I’m always happy to see a new one.
Second, iOS 26.4 brought back an old sleep-related feature that was previously available, but was removed due to the Masimo patent battle.

Last summer, Apple relaunched its Blood Oxygen feature which had been removed due to Masimo’s legal battle. But until iOS 26.4, this blood oxygen data was still missing from the Health app’s Vitals screen.
But now, blood oxygen has returned to Vitals, so five metrics are now tracked by the feature: heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, blood oxygen, and sleep duration.
These improvements are welcome, but rumors indicate that Apple is bringing bigger health upgrades in iOS 27.
iOS 27 would bring major Apple Health upgrades

For years, rumors indicated that Apple was working on an “Apple Health+” service that would add extensive nutrition logging features, educational videos, AI-guided coaching, and more.
But earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Eddy Cue decided to pivot and launch some of these new features in the Health app completely free, without a paid subscription.
We don’t know exactly what features will come to iOS 27, but the report indicates that several will.
And yesterday, a new report all but confirmed that nutritional logging would be one of them.
Mark Gurman reported that Apple is integrating Siri into iOS 27’s Camera app, integrating current visual intelligence features. Visual intelligence will also benefit from new upgrades, according to Gurman:
Beyond the in-camera integration, Apple is expanding the functionality with additional internal features. This includes the ability to scan a nutrition label on food packaging to record dietary information.
No doubt this will tie into the Health app offering a more robust set of nutrition features in iOS 27. But according to previous rumors, educational video content from health experts and AI-related coaching will likely arrive as well.
Apple will unveil iOS 27 on June 8 at WWDC, so it won’t be long before we know exactly what’s coming next in the Health app.
