As WhatsApp continues its glacially paced rollout of the Liquid Glass look to the main chat screen, Meta is also working to add the revamped look to the chat interface. Here are the details.
Liquid Glass still largely unavailable in the official WhatsApp app
Last year, WhatsApp began testing an early adaptation of the Liquid Glass look, bringing it to the app’s bottom navigation bar and some elements of the Chats tab interface.
At the beginning of October, WABetaInfo reported that the new look was starting to roll out to some users, but the rollout appears to have been slower than expected, with most users still not seeing the updated interface.
Despite this, Meta continued to expand the Liquid Glass redesign through the WhatsApp beta available on TestFlight. Earlier this year, for example, the voicemail reader was updated with a new look. NOW, WABetaInfo reports that the company is working to display it on the entire chat screen.
Although it is not yet available to beta testers, WABetaInfo managed to enable the new interface, which includes a floating chat bar and a semi-transparent navigation bar with subtle depth, shadow and blur effects.

While this may add to the anticipation of WhatsApp users still frustrated by the lack of access to the revamped look, the update also shows that Meta is continuing to work on the visual overhaul and could wait for a wider rollout until more of the app has been updated to align with the Liquid Glass design.
As is the case with beta features, especially those only referenced in code, which appears to be the case here, it’s unclear when they will actually be officially released.
