Apple finally shares tvOS 27 release notes with a list of new features

Apple finally shared the release notes for tvOS 27 today, almost two weeks after the software update was released. Most of the new features and changes listed were already known, but we’re sharing the notes for completeness.

tvOS 27 was released on Monday, September 14, but Apple TV doesn’t show release notes for software updates in the Settings app. Instead, Apple regularly updates a support document describing what’s new in tvOS updates.

Here’s what’s new for Apple TV in tvOS 27, including video podcasts in the Podcasts app, AutoMix in the Apple Music app, the ability to set your preferred text size in supported apps, improved AirPlay performance, and more:

This update brings improvements to the Apple Music, Podcasts, and AirPlay experiences on tvOS. It also brings subtitles to more content, adds the ability to block individual apps, and provides bug fixes and security updates for your Apple TV 4K.

This version also includes other features and improvements:

– Video Podcasts stream your favorite shows to TV in the redesigned Podcasts app.

– AirPlay performance improvements deliver faster, more responsive connections when sharing photos, videos, and music from iPhone, iPad, or Mac to Apple TV.

– Transcribed audio helps you follow content when standard captions or subtitles are not provided.

– Support for dynamic text in Accessibility settings allows you to set your preferred text size in supported apps.

– Individual app controls in Settings allow you to prevent users from launching specific apps.

tvOS 27 is compatible with Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and newer.
