The first reviews of the new Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro chip options have been released ahead of the computer’s launch this Tuesday.
While the Mac mini now starts at $899 in the US, compared to just $599 for the previous model when it launched, CABLELuke Larsen of , said it was “still a good deal” due to the impressive performance of the M6 and M5 Pro chip options. To borrow a famous phrase from Steve Jobs, it may no longer be such an “incredibly good” deal.
That’s the gist of most of the Mac mini reviews posted today: the new model is extremely capable, including AI, but the $300 price increase is unfortunate. Apple said it has raised prices on many products due to the ongoing shortage of memory chips, with the company passing on surging prices for RAM and storage chips to its customers.
