Players may be unable to sign in to their account, play online, or purchase games from PlayStation Store.
The PlayStation Network (PSN) is experiencing an outage that affects all of Sony’s video game services, according to the PlayStation Service Status page. Players might not be able to access their PlayStation account or use the PlayStation Store, and the outage had at least a real impact in delaying the update. Sony’s status page says “all services are experiencing issues,” including account management features, game streaming, PlayStation Store, and even PlayStation Direct, Sony’s website for selling PlayStation hardware. The issues also extend to older platforms that the company still maintains in one way or another, like the PS Vita, PS4, and PS3.
Woozad has asked Sony to comment on the outage and the work being done to fix it. We will update this article if we receive a response.
Sony has yet to publicly acknowledge the PSN outage on its public PlayStation Support account, but the timing is tricky, to say the least. The company recently announced plans to abandon production of physical game discs by 2028 and make all PlayStation games available digitally. Although digital games offer certain conveniences, their weaknesses are particularly evident when a network outage renders them completely unavailable for purchase or play.
