The game will now arrive three weeks early, on September 4.
If you are a video game publisher with a game arriving in the second half of 2026, you are throwing it into a real bloodbath. Almost every publisher (except perhaps Nintendo) has done everything in its power to avoid embarrassing GTA6. One of a lot the games are expected to release in the comically overcrowded September-October window (GTA6 arrives November 19) is Onimusha: Way of the Swordwhich was to be launched on September 25. We’re now getting it a little earlier, with Capcom announcing a new release date of September 4th.
The new release date affects all versions of the game, therefore PC, PS5 and Xbox Series Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. years 2002 Onimusha 2: The Fate of the Samurai was remastered for modern platforms last year.
The new release date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword means the game should have a little more breathing room. The previous date of September 25 would have seen it arrive the same week as highly anticipated games like Resonant control And Silent Hill: Fall of the Cityboth of which are released on September 24. After the arrival of the new Onimusha, the next major version is currently Marvel’s Wolverine on September 15.
And if September 4 is still too long to wait for Capcom’s next big game, there’s a demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword is available at the moment, but keep in mind that progression does not carry over to the full game.
