If we’re being perfectly honest, you should always buy your tech at Costco, especially big-ticket items like smart TVs, because you can spend the savings on an assembly service that installs it for you. Well, maybe. The service promises to make it simple to install a new LG OLED evo C6, one of Costco’s 10 new electronics to look out for in 2026, but the results may be questionable.
When you buy a TV at Costco, you have the option to use the Angi Premier TV assembly service. A two-person team is available for $199.99 and the solo option costs $149.99. Interestingly, two people’s reviews are split almost evenly down the middle, with the vast majority of customers rating the service as 5 stars or 1 star. The reason for this clear division is simple: it depends on who is hired for the position. Angi is a service that hires local “pros” to handle all kinds of home improvement tasks. It’s basically the Uber of home improvement. However, therein lies the problem: anyone using Angi or Angi Premier is limited by local contractors hired by Costco.
Normally, Angi users can choose service providers based on review scores and prices, but selecting the professional TV mounting service through Costco doesn’t give you these options. You get the one Costco hires. If this person is as knowledgeable and courteous as they claim to be, your TV will likely be installed without a problem. Otherwise, you might be the one giving a 1-star review.
Costco isn’t the only retailer using Angi
There are many things to consider before wall-mounting a TV. Do you have the right mount? Can your wall support the weight? Angi Premier can take away a lot of that stress if you’re shopping for a TV through Costco. But what happens if you buy a TV elsewhere? Sam’s Club is another chain that uses Angi for its TV mounting services, as well as other home installations such as flooring, lighting and security cameras.
Unlike Costco’s offerings, Sam’s Club prices the mounting service based on the size of the TV. Fitting a set 75 inches and smaller will cost $79.99, and anything larger will cost $134.99. Additionally, reviews are mostly 5-star, making up 83% of all reviews, with 1-star reviews coming in second, but at only 13%. Does this mean Sam’s Club is hiring better contractors through Angi? It’s possible, but maybe these customers were luckier. If you browse the other Angi services offered at Sam’s Club, you’ll notice that TV mounting installation is the only one with multiple reviews and high ratings.
Other service offerings only have single-digit reviews or are poorly received (or both). For example, several reviews of Angi’s outdoor string light installation through Sam’s Club complain that the installers were late and marked the job as complete even though the job wasn’t. Customers who have taken this route to putting together a home gym have had similar complaints. Ultimately, the results of these third-party service providers seem to come down to luck and location.
