You can now add ChatGPT to PowerPoint

Most users can start generating slides with AI today.

OpenAI now lets you give your presentations the AI treatment. The company announced that ChatGPT is available in Microsoft PowerPoint. The chatbot can create new presentation slides, as well as edit and update existing ones. As with many ChatGPT features, it acts based on natural language prompts or by pulling material from connected services like Gmail, Outlook, or Sharepoint. The PowerPoint feature is in beta, but most OpenAI users can use it right now, including those on the free access tier and subscribers through the enterprise-focused ChatGPT Business.

This is a feature that Anthropic has been offering with its Claude chatbot since September. (Google’s Gemini, of course, integrates well with the company’s Slides platform.) As OpenAI potentially prepares for what is sure to be an obscenely valuable IPO, it makes sense for the company to mirror its competitors’ capabilities as much as possible. PowerPoint was a bit of an exception, since ChatGPT is already operational in several other business tools such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
