Xbox and IKEA have created a strange collection of gaming furniture

Gaming-oriented furniture is far from being an original concept. Some PC owners swear by gaming chairs to get maximum comfort in their setups, although the smart money buys a cheaper office chair instead. There are even hybrid sit-stand desks for gamers who prefer to face opponents sitting in a chair, standing, or both. That doesn’t change the idea, however, that a recent Xbox collaboration with Ikea is an odd marriage, to say the least. Xbox Wire announced a new gaming-inspired furniture collection, YXSTABY, on October 1, 2026, which was made available the same day.

The set consists of nine pieces of furniture designed to enhance player performance with maximum comfort and practical storage space. “At IKEA, we believe play deserves a place in the home that is as thoughtful, comfortable and personal as any other everyday activity,” said Philip Dilé, product developer at IKEA. “With YXSTABY, we worked closely with XBOX to reimagine familiar shapes into playful, functional pieces that make it easier for people to bring their love of gaming into the spaces where they live.” While unorthodox in both design and functionality, some Xbox gamers and owners might embrace the furniture in the same way customers swear by certain IKEA smart home electronics.

YXSTABY introduced a range of Xbox themed furniture

YXSTABY may not be as available as products like Sega’s strangest gaming chair accessory, the Sega Action Chair, which upgraded standard gaming chair setups with lean-activated microswitches as a D-pad substitute and buttons designed to turn players’ bodies into controllers. However, unsuspecting visitors who enter a home or room decorated with YXSTABY furniture may be greeted by unusual sights like an Xbox green thumbstool, also available in black, and D-pad cushions resting on a slim gaming lounge chair with a headrest.

The collection also includes a black or white gamepad display stand and gaming TV stand on casters, a gray and oak veneer gaming side table on casters, a white gaming monitor stand, a 13-inch silver gaming D-pad controller tray, and a white gaming laptop stand with storage. Some Reddit users were quick to notice the new gaming furniture collection and expressed their excitement. “Okay, I need it,” one said. “I actually like this TV stand and kinda want the D-pad bowl. The hanging cases are awesome too.”

Others, while interested in the partnership between IKEA and Xbox, were disappointed by its offerings. “While I love this collaboration, I’m a little disappointed with the deals,” another user wrote. “Apart from the stool and the pillow, the other products are really simple and don’t really remind me of Xbox.” Some were more critical of products like the D-pad stool, which they said seemed uncomfortable.
