Meta introduces a new AI assistant for its Instagram creators

The Edits Assistant provides personalized advice based on your audience and best-performing content.

It’s not hard to find AI-generated advice for just about anything these days, but Meta thinks it’s found the perfect solution for its vast community of creators with its new Editing Assistant.

ICYMI, Edits is Meta’s creator-focused video editing app, which it launched last year as a rival to TikTok’s CapCut. The new Edits Assistant is being billed by Meta as a highly personalized chatbot that understands each individual’s audience, rather than just offering generic and, indeed, AI-adjacent advice.

In a press release, Meta said your new “creative partner” can analyze your ideas and suggest video ideas based on previous content performance and current trends. You can ask it which videos have worked well for you recently, or ask for feedback on why certain Reels haven’t resonated as much with your audience.

The assistant can access all your Instagram data, including follows, views, likes, shares, and retention stats, which it will rely on to respond to your prompts. It looks at performance patterns rather than tailoring its advice to a video that made big numbers, and will suggest concepts, hooks, and captions for future videos based on how you’ve approached the platform in the past. It can also suggest which audio to use based on the style of content you’re creating.

The Edit Assistant has already been tested by some creators in the Meta community, and it will be free to use in-app until you reach an unspecified daily prompt limit. The company no doubt hopes that the new feature will attract more creators to sign up for one of its new Meta One subscriptions, which will unlock higher usage limits for power users. The most expensive of these plans costs $499 per month.
