Many of us built fantastical and extremely impractical cities out of Lego when we were kids. Soon we’ll be able to do this again in video game form. Lego Horizons was announced today during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. The upcoming blocky city builder will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, although a release window has not yet been announced.
The project is being developed by Iceflake Studios, who fans of this game genre might recognize as the current team behind Cities: Skylines II. Paradox Interactive, which is the long-time publisher of this franchise, pulled original creator Colossal Order from working on the sequel after a controversial launch that led to a lot of tension between the game studio and the gaming community. Paradox will also publish this next upcoming title.
THE Lego Horizons The trailer shows off all the colorful joy you’d expect from a game from the legendary toy brand, coupled with many of the standard concepts for a city builder, like residential lots and a strong need for firefighters. After such a long and difficult ride on the struggle bus, it’s wonderful to see a new chapter emerge for this franchise. Resident of Woozad Cities: horizons fans have been happy with Iceflake’s work so far, so hopefully they can continue that positivity in Lego Horizons.
