How to reset your Samsung TV
To simply restart your TV, unplug it for 30 seconds or hold down the power button on the remote for five seconds. Your TV will turn off briefly, then turn back on with the Samsung logo. A reboot may not seem very dramatic, but it clears your TV’s RAM and system cache. It also restarts background processes, which can sometimes fail.
In rare cases, you might benefit from resetting the Smart Hub without performing a full factory reset. This resets Hub options to default and clears associated apps and account information. You will need to redownload the apps and log in again. To reset the Hub, follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings > All Settings.
2. Click Support.
3. Choose Device maintenanceSO Self-diagnosis.
4. Click Reset the smart hub.
5. Enter your PIN. If you did not choose one, enter 0000.
Finally, you can try resetting network settings if you are specifically having connection issues. Chances are the problem is with your router or service provider, so fix those first. However, it can’t hurt to log back in with a fresh start, provided you have your router’s login credentials handy. Here is the process:
1. Head to Settings > All Settings.
2. Click RelationshipsSO Network.
3. Choose Reset network. To confirm, click Reset.
4. Return to Network Settings to enter your router’s SSID and password.
You may now understand why you would want to go straight to a factory reset if a reboot doesn’t work. If a problem is difficult to diagnose, a hard reset can save you from having to reset components one by one. There’s also nothing to lose, unless you simply don’t remember a critical connection.
