We’re just over a month away from the launch of iOS 27, and Apple continues to make changes. The fifth beta of iOS 27 changes the appearance of some app icons and adjusts Liquid Glass, and adds a few smaller features that make the iPhone a little nicer to use.
App icons
There are updated Liquid Glass icons for Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, App Store, and Overview. Some icons have been completely redesigned, while others feature more detail than before.
Siri AI voice personalization
Voice customizations for the AI Siri have been expanded, and rhythm and expressiveness can be adjusted for the seven US voices and four UK voices.
AI Siri voice customization is done on-device, so functionality is limited to iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, or iPhone Air.
Contacts
If a contact you created is associated with a business, the business name will appear in the contact list under name and in search. It’s easier to view more information about a contact without having to go to the contact card.
Create a pass
Apple Wallet Create a Pass feature now available outside the US
Startup screens
Apple has added splash screens for the Photos, Wallet, and Music apps, explaining what’s new in iOS 27.
Search and ask
Apple made minor changes to the animation when displaying Search or Ask. The suggestions interface now appears like the search bar does rather than appearing slightly afterward.
The search interface also now has a “Search Web” option at the bottom of the results that wasn’t there before.
Applications in research
You can now decide whether the search should display app results and, if so, how many. You can turn off app results, show four apps, or show eight apps. There is also a toggle to display app shortcuts.
Control center
When connected to Wi-Fi, Control Center no longer displays information about the cellular connection.

The iOS 27 control center in beta 45G
5G+ is now available in Spain.
Software updates
When you check your software version in Settings > General > About, it now tells you when the last update was installed.
Clock
There is a thicker font for the Alarms & Timers section of the Clock app.
Liquid glass
The clearer Liquid Glass setting is clearer than it was in the previous beta.
There is now a toggle for the Customize Smart Replies feature in the Mail app. It is disabled by default and can be enabled in the Mail section of the Settings app.
Battery
The Battery section of the Settings app will now tell you if a poor cellular connection is causing battery drain.
