Discord is down for some users

Having trouble chatting with your Discord friends? You are not the only one. The popular chat platform has been down for some users since at least 3:08 p.m. ET, when the company announced it had begun investigating an issue with its API systems. Shortly after, at 3:24 p.m. ET, Discord said it identified the issue, but noted that it was still affecting users, making it difficult to use the service.

“We continue to work to resolve issues impacting availability for some Discord users,” the company said at 3:56 p.m. ET, as part of its latest update. “This impacts our entire service, including logging in and sending messages.”

Whatever the cause of the service outage, it results in people not being able to use Discord at all, this writer included. I tried to add a new friend to my contact list, but the service told me that the username I was trying to add didn’t exist. I then tried restarting Discord and now the app won’t start at all. We will update this article once the app is back up and running.
