Change of rules for the back -to -school allowance: watch out for news fakes

While the back -to -school allowance must be paid this August 19, many Fake News are circulating on social networks, in particular concerning its alleged new conditions of allocation. As the start of the school year approaches, we take stock of the devices set up at the start of the 2025 school year.

It’s back to school

This year again, the trend is no exception to the rule: several videos on Tiktok claim that major changes have been made to the criteria for obtaining this service. What fuel the confusion and the concern of the most modest households, for whom this help, intended – among others – for the purchase of school supplies, represents a lot.

One of the main fake news relayed evokes the creation of a Official application called Monars+. According to some videos, each beneficiary would now have the obligation to scan and transmit all the cash receipts linked to the purchase of school supplies via this application, otherwise the payment would be suspended or canceled.

What is Monars+app?

This information was formally denied by the family allowance fund. No application of this type is currently offered by the public authorities, and no control measure is on the agenda.

Created in 1974, the ARS is aimed at all families whose resources are lower than a ceiling fixed at a minimum wage threshold increased by a third party, and who have at least one school child aged 6 to 18. The amount of aid, for this year, remains unchanged from last year: it varies according to the age of children beneficiariesranging from € 420 to € 460, a sum automatically paid on Tuesday August 19, 2025 to the majority of the people concerned. Beneficiaries can breathe. In 2025, nothing changed.

What conditions of obtaining?

The service is paid by CAF (or MSA for farmers), without the need to justify purchases a posteriori. Only current controls can exist, as for any other social service, but it is a usual administrative practice, unrelated to unprecedented measures or the launch of specific applications.

Recall that Tiktok, and social networks as a rule, are familiar with this type of fake news. After presenting on April 24 as rape day, the platform regularly relays false information, without really managing to stem it. Enough to sow doubt with beneficiaries, while institutions are increasing reminders to dispel confusion.

In summary

  • No change to be expected for ARS 2025
  • It is a massively relayed fake news on social networks
  • This aid, staggered between € 420 and € 460, is reserved for modest households with at least one school child
