Arc Raiders and Finals both receive TV and film adaptations

We don’t have too many details yet.

The era of video game adaptations continues. Chernin Entertainment just signed a deal to adapt both Arc Raiders And The finals as television and film projects, according to a report by Variety. Embark Studios, which published both games, will also be involved in some capacity.

We don’t have any real details here, other than some corporate press releases that boast about “the next big step in growth” for both franchises and how it will deliver “integrated transmedia experiences.” Chernin’s chairman said they were “ambitious global intellectual companies with the potential to become major film and television franchises.” It appears the company has a few shared cinematic universes, but that’s just conjecture on my part.

These titles aren’t really known for their narrative experiments. Arc Raiders is a fun third-person extraction shooter and The finals is a free FPS set in a game show. This means that filmmakers can do pretty much whatever they want, as long as the world-building remains intact.

Chernin has a nice pedigree for this sort of thing, especially in recent years. This helped produce Behind the scenes for theaters and Madness for Netflix. Earlier versions include The last house, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the Fear Street trilogy, among many others.

This is just the latest adaptation of a video game. Helldiverse is going to make a movie next year, followed by Ancient Ring And Call of Duty in 2028. We are also not very far from the long-awaited objective The Legend of Zelda movie.
