Apple HomeView Does Apple HomeView support topics and topics? Support for topics and subjects?
Those who have been patiently waiting for Apple to release a smart home hub with a display no longer have to wait. Announced on October 13, the Apple HomeView is finally official, and it has a few specs that are worth the wait. Along with an aluminum design, you’ll find a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, an A18 processor, and a 12 MP Center Stage camera. Some may be wondering if the device also includes support for Matter and Thread networks. Fortunately, the HomeView has both.
For those concerned about device fragmentation between their smart home products, Matter support on HomeView will ensure that compatible devices will work properly with Apple’s latest offerings. If your accessories support Matter, they will work with HomeView. Ultimately, this is due to HomeView’s support for Thread networks, which essentially help keep Matter-enabled devices connected. HomeView also offers additional benefits on top of solid compatibility.
Through a collaboration with LG, die-hard Apple fans can keep a variety of smart home gadgets within the Apple ecosystem with the Apple Home Collection. But the Matter and Thread offerings also mean users have more options when it comes to smart gadgets they can use at home. We explain what Matter is in more detail, if you need it, but for those worried that HomeView only works with certain smart home products, your options are less limited than you think.
Why Threads and Matter support is important for HomeView
With support for Thread, Apple HomeView supports accessories that work with Apple HomeKit or Matter. Support for HomeKit is an obvious win, since it’s Apple’s own smart home system, so there’s already a good chance that fans of Apple and smart accessories already own these accessories. However, Matter support ensures that some products outside of the Apple ecosystem can also take advantage of HomeView. Users will, however, need to make sure they look for Matter-compatible accessories when shopping for smart home products.
Support for Matter and Thread can help future-proof your home (as can these smart home devices we think are worth buying), but there are still other factors to consider with smart home accessories, including how the accessories themselves receive updates. Please note, however, that 100% compatibility for accessories may require an iCloud+ subscription; this is the case for advanced features of compatible cameras. However, users can view HomeKit Secure Video footage on their iPhone, Mac, iPad, or Apple TV, alongside HomeView.
In addition to support for Thread and Matter, the new HomeView also includes access to the new Apple Intelligence-backed Siri, which will work regardless of whether a user’s iPhone or iPad has that option. Users will also have a wall-mounted HomeView option, but the base model also includes an additional bass extension for listening to music. Additionally, there’s also support for FaceTime and Center Stage, so users can make video calls while remaining centered on a screen during a call, even if they’re moving around. Both models are now available for pre-order from Apple.
