An analog handheld restock arrives October 2

You’ll have to be quick if you want to get your hands on the beloved retro console.

The Analogue Pocket is approaching its fifth anniversary, but the Deluxe Game Boy-alike is just as hard to get now as it was at launch. If you missed previous releases, you’re about to get another chance, because Analogue has just announced that it will reopen pre-orders for the Pocket (along with the Analogue Dock) on October 2 at 11 a.m. ET.

If you manage to snag a unit before it leaves, expect it to ship in two weeks. The Pocket was last restocked in March, when the console was also hit with a tariff-related $20 price hike. Buy one now and you’ll pay $240 for the privilege.

In case you missed everything about Analogue Pocket, this machine is a little different than most retro handhelds on the market today. Rather than emulating older games, it’s designed to play your surviving Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges at 10x the resolution with much better color. The games evolve perfectly while being much better.

In our review of the launch, we said this stunning device was “perhaps the best way to relive the golden age of handheld gaming.” The handheld landscape has changed a lot since then, so that statement could probably be disputed today, but it’s still hard to beat the feeling of sliding into your original device.
