Amazon is simplifying its Fire TV streaming device lineup
Gone are the days of having to choose between Select, Plus and Max.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that choice is a good thing. But an overabundance of choice can, at best, create confusion and, at worst, lead to decision paralysis. Many tech companies have layered their product offerings so finely that making sense of them can feel like playing 3D chess. We’ve complained about Samsung and Lenovo doing this before, and more recently we asked why Amazon offers five different Fire TV streamers. If, like us, you hate confusing product portfolios, today’s news should (slightly) ease your frustration.
Along with a new 4K streaming stick and remote, Amazon today announced a streamlined lineup of Fire TV devices. The list of streaming players it offers has been reduced to four, down from five.
As of yesterday (September 29, 2026), Amazon offered the following devices under its “streaming media player” banner:
- Fire HD TV Stick
- Fire TV Stick 4K Selection
- Fire TV 4K Plus Stick
- Fire TV 4K Max Stick
- Cube TV Fire
Starting today, this list will simply be:
- Fire HD TV Stick
- Fire TV 4K Stick
- Fire TV 4K Max Stick
- Cube TV Fire
Although this is not a significant streamlining, East a 20 percent discount and should be easier to navigate. These are three streaming sticks and a cube. As a reminder, the Fire TV Stick HD is the model launched earlier this year with a slimmer design and costs $35. The Fire TV Stick 4K is the $60 one announced today, and the Max variant was one of Woozad’s favorite streaming dongles last year. The Fire TV Cube was last updated in 2022 and cost $140 at launch.
With Amazon’s Prime Day event happening next week, many of them will likely see deep discounts. The 4K stick announced today will be half price, making it a steal at $30. Amazon may not be able to remove 50% of its product line, but I suspect consumers will still benefit from a variety of options and significant savings.
