Since October 2025, store game departments have not had a second of respite. In just eight months, five Pokémon Trading Card Game expansions have been released, at a pace that even collectors struggle to keep up with. And that’s without mentioning TCG Pocket, the franchise’s mobile card game, which just revealed Propulsion Paradoxe. As for the physical TCG, the last one arrived on May 22.
Chaos comes to Illumis
Mega Evolution: Chaos Ascendant is the fourth major expansion of the Mega Evolution block, released last fall to accompany the launch of the Pokémon Legends ZA video game. On the menu, there are over 120 cards, including over 20 Trainer cards and over 35 special illustrations featuring both Pokémon and their Trainers. As expected, it is once again the Mega Evolutions that are in the spotlight.
As for the plot, The Pokémon Company was in charge of its staging. Night falls on Illumis, the City of Light, and Mega-Fleet-ex wreaks havoc there. To stop the threat, players can count on Mega-Amphinobi-ex, the protagonist of the expansion, supported by Mega-Nemelios-ex and Mega-Kravarech-ex. They all come from the latest installment of the license and are faithful to a now well-established tradition: each expansion highlights the new features of the most recent video game, and Chaos Ascendente is no exception to the rule.
A frenetic pace
In the spring of 2025, The Pokémon Company itself recognized a “ very high demand » weighing on stocks, after the massive shortage that had hit extensions Prismatic Evolutions AND Destined Rivalries. The problem has become almost structural: with five expansions in eight months and so many wallets involved, collectors will have to take their wallets.
Faced with discontent, some distributors have tried to react, for example, by limiting purchases to two items per person or taking measures against resale. The Pokémon Company, for its part, has promised to print more.
