OpenAI just released this week’s Codex desktop app update, which includes a brand new feature on Mac called Appshots.
OpenAI updates Codex with Appshots, improved objective mode, faster built-in browser and shared plugins
Appshots is now available for Codex for Mac, adding a new way to instantly provide context to your conversation.
“On your Mac, press Command-Command to attach your application window to a Codex thread,” OpenAI explains. “The Codex gets both a screenshot and text from the window, including content beyond what is visible on the screen.”
Today’s update also includes an upgraded /goal command, which OpenAI documents here.
/goal comes from experience: for tasks big and small, the Codex does your job.
Use goal mode in the Codex app, IDE extension, or CLI to assign the Codex a specific milestone, and it will continue to run until it gets there, even for hours or days.
You can record and ride, and even pause the Codex mid-way.
Pro tip: Start side discussions to understand the work that has been done so far without having to interrupt the main task.
OpenAI says the in-app browser in Codex is now faster and more accurate with advanced annotation mode and batch commenting support.
Business users can now share custom plugins across teams. Enterprise users can contact OpenAI to request early access to shared plugin support.
OpenAI also says that Analytics in Codex for Business and Professional Users now includes more details on active users, credits, tokens, executions, user ranks, lines of code generated, and plugin usage.
The latest version of Codex for Mac is now available. Last week, OpenAI launched a preview of Codex iOS access through the ChatGPT app, which it also improved with new features this week.
