Apple Watch Ultra 4 gets two major new upgrades, report says

Apple is launching more than 15 new products this fall, including the Apple Watch Ultra 4. And a new report highlights two major upgrades coming with the Apple Watch Ultra 4.

Apple Watch Ultra 4 will get a ‘major overhaul’ and significant sensor upgrades

Last summer, Digitimes reported the first details regarding what will happen with the Apple Watch Ultra 4. It indicated that there would be design “tweaks”, a doubling of the number of sensors and much better power efficiency.

Since then, however, there has been surprisingly little news about the new model.

But today, almost a year after this last report, Digitimes has a new update on two major changes it highlights for the Apple Watch Ultra 4. The new model will have:

1. A “major overhaul”, also called a “complete overhaul”
2. and a “significant upgrade of detection functions”

The report said market observers expect the redesign could increase shipments by 20% to 30% compared to last year.

The sensor upgrade, which appears very much in line with last year’s report, would have a huge benefit for Apple’s exclusive sensor supplier TASC. Siu Han writes:

Market expectations are that the high-end Apple Watch refresh at 2H26 will bring a significant upgrade to sensing features alongside a complete redesign. Taiwan-Asia Semiconductor (TASC) has long been Apple’s exclusive supplier of sensor components and is expected to be a major beneficiary, with new products likely to trigger large orders as early as July and outperform the first half during the traditional peak season of the second half.

With Apple rumored to launch its first iPhone Ultra this year, alongside a MacBook Ultra and possibly AirPods Ultra, it appears the company is planning to go all-out with its Ultra line. And of course we are also expecting a new Mac Studio with M5 Ultra.
