If there’s one useful iPhone feature you probably overlook on a daily basis, it’s Control Center. It’s the easiest and fastest way to access your most needed shortcuts from anywhere on your phone. But the one place where it becomes particularly relevant is your lock screen. The Control Center here saves you a lot of time when you just want to turn on your iPhone’s flashlight or enable cellular data without having to unlock your device.
However, whenever you open Control Center from the lock screen, you may have noticed a short horizontal line below the battery icon. It starts below the cell signal and goes to the middle of the battery. This line is basically the Control Center indicator and lets you know that you can access the Control Center by going down from this location. It can be an eyesore, yes, but there is actually a way to turn it off.
How to Disable the Line Below the Battery Icon on Your Lock Screen
If you want to remove the line below the battery icon on your iPhone’s lock screen, you’ll need to turn off access to the lock screen in Control Center. This is the only way for him to disappear from sight. This may seem like a big trade-off, considering how often you use Control Center when your phone is locked.
But it’s actually one of the settings to secure your iPhone. If your iPhone is ever stolen, the thief will not be able to activate airplane mode. This increases your chances of recovering your device. While modern iPhones can still be tracked offline via Bluetooth using the broader Apple Find My network, completely cutting off the device’s cellular and Wi-Fi connection makes continuous, real-time tracking much more difficult.
To disable lock screen access to your Control Center, follow these steps:
- Launch the Settings app.
- Tap Face ID & Passcode.
- When prompted, enter your password.
- Scroll down to the “Allow access when locked” section.
- Turn off Control Center.
Then the line under the battery on your iPhone’s lock screen will no longer appear. Keep in mind, however, that you will still see this line if you have Face ID enabled and your face is visible. This means that if you are using the iPhone, the Control Center will still be accessible normally. However, if your face is not visible or you are not using Face ID to unlock your iPhone, the line will not be seen.
