A new report claims that Apple intends to make some changes to the current Apple Watch Series 11, beyond a new watch face. Previous reports indicated that the Apple Watch Series 12 could get significant software updates, but the hardware would remain pretty much as it is with the current model. NOW Bloomberg reports that there won’t be many changes to the hardware or software. Specifically, the report states that there will definitely be at least a new watch face, as well as performance improvements, but probably little more than fixes and probably security updates as well. Beyond that, the report only hints at the possibility of small hardware updates. Previously, the Apple Watch was not expected to directly include any Apple Intelligence features. Reports vary, but the Apple Watch is currently believed to have 1GB to 1.5GB of RAM, which likely limits what Apple Intelligence could do on the small device. However, Apple Watch may be able to display results from Apple Intelligence prompts. There is no indication in the new report that this will happen with watchOS 27, which is expected to be announced at WWDC. Other past reports have agreed that there will be few to no hardware updates to the Apple Watch in 2026, but some are predicting an all-glass redesign in 2028.
