These are the best new MacBook deals right now: May 2026 buying guide

In the age of Apple Silicon, MacBooks are more affordable than ever. These days, you can buy a MacBook Air with 512GB of storage and 16GB of memory for $1,099 directly from Apple, whereas such a configuration would have cost $1,599 just a few years ago. And on top of that, the MacBook Neo significantly reduces the entry point.

Even with Apple’s price drop, there are still a number of deals to be found if you look around.

MacBook Air

Until the launch of the MacBook Neo, the MacBook Air represented the entry point into Apple’s laptop lineup. While the MacBook Neo makes its value proposition slightly questionable, I’d still say the MacBook Air is a great laptop if you want a better experience without needing something premium.

MagSafe, a P3 color display, Center Stage on the webcam, and longer battery life are just some of the MacBook Air’s highlights. It also comes with a 15-inch size variant, unlike the MacBook Neo which only offers 13-inch.

Right now, you can find these great deals across the MacBook Air lineup:

MacBook Neo

This product doesn’t need a long explanation: the MacBook Neo is Apple’s first affordable MacBook, at just $599.

It has a few compromises compared to the aforementioned MacBook Air, but it’s still incredibly good for the price. The build quality, display sharpness, and macOS experience are essentially uncompromising. Sure, you have to deal with a slower A18 Pro chip (although trust me, it’s no slouch), lesser ports, and 8GB of memory, but it’s perfectly reasonable for the price. It also comes in fun colors like Citrus, Blush, and Indigo.

There’s no retail discount on the MacBook Neo right now, but if you’re a student, you can get $100 off from Apple. Otherwise, you can buy one on Amazon:

Right now, there are reports that Apple is facing incredible supply constraints with the MacBook Neo. Apple has reportedly launched a new A18 Pro series of chips to meet demand, but this could potentially lead to a price increase. If you want one, you might want to buy one as soon as possible.

MacBook Pro

At the top of the range is the MacBook Pro. You get the best of the best, although there is one major caveat. Apple is reportedly redesigning high-end MacBook Pro variants later this year with OLEDs, touchscreens and slimmer designs.

This redesign will only debut with the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, however – so if you buy the base model with the M5 chip, you’re still able to buy a new MacBook today. The same goes if you don’t care about the redesign at all, because M5 Pro and M5 Max are still amazing new chips.
