Earlier this year, Apple launched its new iPhone privacy feature, Limit Precise Location, but only a few carriers initially supported it. Following the launch of iOS 26.5 this week, Apple now says the feature is available to many more users.
‘Limit Precise Location’ is rolling out more widely, but you still need an iPhone or iPad with Apple’s C1 or C1X

One of the more interesting iOS additions earlier this year was a new privacy feature: “Limit Precise Location.”
When enabled, Apple may restrict your location data, making it harder for carriers to know your precise location. Instead, carriers can only see, for example, “the neighborhood where your device is located, rather than a more specific location (like a street address).”
The feature requires an Apple-made cellular modem like the C1 and C1X. It is therefore currently limited to iPhone Air, iPhone 17e and iPhone 16e. The iPad Pro M5 also offers support.
Later this year, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra will both feature an Apple cellular modem, the C2. So the new flagships should all support Limit Precise Location.
Before this hardware expansion, the feature now also supports more operators. Here is the updated list:
- Austria: A1
- Denmark: YouSee
- Germany: Telecom
- Ireland: Sky
- Thailand: AIS and True
- UK: EE, BT and Sky
- United States: Boost mobile
At launch, only six carriers were on board, and now the total is 10.
But the expansion is actually much bigger than this list. Because even though Limit Precise Location is enabled by default for all of these carriers, Apple now also says that anyone in the EU or UK can choose to enable it.
With a SIM card (physical or eSIM) from a European Union or United Kingdom operator, you can activate this feature.
Users can enable the feature in Settings ⇾ Cellular ⇾ Cellular Data Options ⇾ Limit Precise Location.
I look forward to seeing Limit Precise Location roll out more widely in the US as well. Hopefully this will happen before the iPhone 18 Pro launches.
