iRacing on Apple Vision Pro brings a “level of immersion and fidelity never before seen in sim racing,” says Tony Gardner, president of iRacing. The new app landed on the App Store this week after first being announced in March.
Support for racing simulation via iRacing is available on Apple Vision Pro as part of the visionOS 26.4 software update.
visionOS adds “privileged streaming” functionality, starting with support for Nvidia’s CloudXR technology. This helps fuel the new experience.
The team behind iRacing detailed Apple Vision Pro compatibility in a blog post in March. Apple’s ARKit technology combines the racing simulator with real-world elements, like hands and physical racing equipment.
iRacing for Apple Vision Pro uses foveal streaming to deliver the sharpest content in the driver’s direct field of vision. Apple Vision Pro delivers a unique immersive racing simulation experience by seamlessly blending your racing rig with the virtual cockpit, aligning your physical steering wheel with that of the game. iRacers see their physical hands on the wheel, producing an unrivaled experience that ensures racers remain visually connected to their racing rig when using Apple Vision Pro.
To enable this experience, iRacing software offers in-depth technical CloudXR integration. Physics calculations and high-fidelity graphics rendering are performed on a PC equipped with NVIDIA’s RTX GPU, while images are encoded and shared wirelessly via Wi-Fi to iRacing Connect on visionOS.
In addition to iRacing, Apple Vision Pro users can enjoy X-Plane compatibility for the first time.
Nvidia also offers detailed experiences with visionOS 26.4 and Apple Vision Pro that extend to manufacturing, design, and healthcare.
