Severance Season 3 Coming “Much Earlier” Than Last Season, Per Star

Apple TV’s hit sci-fi show Severance had a three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, but star Adam Scott now says season 3 will arrive “much sooner” than that. Here’s what he said and what it means for the release schedule.

Adam Scott gives an update on when to expect Severance season 3

Severance star Adam Scott was in attendance at this weekend’s BAFTA TV Awards, where Apple TV’s The Studio made history by completing its run of major comedy awards.

In an interview with Deadline On the red carpet, Scott confirmed that filming for Season 3 of Severance was starting “very soon.” But it’s what he said about the release schedule that’s most newsworthy.

Scott was asked if Severance fans could expect a shorter wait for Season 3 than the three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2.

The actor first shared that it’s “more important that it’s great than that it’s fast.” But then he got some good news about the timing:

“We definitely plan to release it much sooner than the last cycle, which was three years, which is too long.”

Season 2 premiered in January 2025, so another three-year gap would mean a January 2028 premiere.

If Scott is right and Season 3 is coming “much sooner” than its predecessor, you have to assume that means a premiere at least six months earlier.

This would mean the season 3 premiere of Severance mid-2027– or maybe sooner.

Personally, I think it’s very unlikely that it will be before the middle of next year. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it premiered in fall 2027.

But it’s good to hear that, at least for now, the Severance creative team is confident the gap will be much shorter than last time.
