The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will launch this fall, and in addition to offering a variety of new features, three design changes are reportedly coming. Here’s what to expect from the rumors.
#1: Unified rear window and aluminum colors

Among the iPhone 17 Pro’s many design changes, the colors have clearly been a big hit, and no one seems to care about the full-width camera tray.
One design decision, however, was a little more polarizing: the two-tone rear window and aluminum.
Fortunately, it looks like Apple plans to fix this problem with the iPhone 18 Pro.
Weibo leaker Instant Digital writes:
The iPhone 18 Pro series features a redesigned rear glass that minimizes the color difference between the glass and the aluminum back panel. A homogeneous and unified look.
I’m in the camp of users who find two-tone colors a bad look, so I’m excited to see Apple move in a different direction with the iPhone 18 Pro.
#2: Dynamic Island is shrinking

After a variety of conflicting early reports, we now have more clarity on what’s going on with the front of the iPhone 18 Pro. The screen sizes between the Pro and Pro Max models are expected to remain the same as their predecessors, but the front cutout is a big question mark.
Although some earlier reports indicated that the iPhone 18 Pro would have a punch-hole cutout instead of a standard Dynamic Island, the latest evidence leans heavily towards a smaller Dynamic Island design.
Rumors say the new Dynamic Island will be around 35% smaller on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Some Face ID components would be moved below the screen, but not all. So Apple isn’t moving to a punch-hole design, at least not yet.
#3: Bold new colors

Apple did something surprising with the iPhone 17 Pro: it offered bold and fun color options.
Cosmic Orange in particular was a huge success, proving that Apple’s move away from basic shades of white, black, and gray was a good decision.
Rumors indicate that the company plans to continue offering fun Pro colors with the iPhone 18 Pro. Although just months away from launch, there’s still a lot of uncertainty as to what exactly these colors will be.
Macmonde recently announced the arrival of four colors:
- Light blue
- Black cherry
- Money
- Dark gray
The color “Dark Cherry” has been described by others as a mix of burgundy, coffee, and dark purple. This is expected to be the flagship option that features prominently in Apple’s marketing.
