iOS 27 is rumored to once again include a useful new feature for the Wallet app. A new report today states that iOS 27 will add a “Create Pass” feature to the Wallet app, allowing users to convert physical passes to digital passes. Here’s how it will work.
Today’s report from Bloomberg adds more details to an earlier leak about this same feature. Bloomberg explains that the “Create Pass” feature will allow users to “take a QR code and generate a personalized pass around it.”
“This feature is designed for situations where, for example, a gym or concert app provides a QR code for entry but does not support the Wallet app,” the report said. “With the new tool, users can import this code and create their own pass.”
The new feature would be accessible via the “+” button in the Wallet app, in the same menu where you currently add new credit cards.
There will be multiple customization options, including different designs, colors, images, icons, and more:
Users can create a pass from scratch or rely on the iPhone’s camera to take a QR code and turn it into a digital ticket. The feature includes tools for customizing styles, images, colors and text fields, allowing users to tailor the information displayed on each pass.
Apple is testing three model options: standard, membership, and event. Standard, in orange, is a default option for any pass type, while Membership, in blue, is for entry to places like gyms. The event pass, in purple, is for tickets to games, movies and other occasions.
iOS 27 will be announced at WWDC, which begins in just over a month, on June 8. What do you think of this new Wallet feature? Let us know in the comments.
