Apple gets new M&A chief as Ternus reshuffles management

CEO John Ternus makes changes to Apple leadership, reports Bloomberg. Apple veteran Steve Smith will take charge of mergers and acquisitions and development of the company, previously led by Adrian Perica. M&A is an important team at Apple, handling acquisitions and arrangements like the deal Apple made with OpenAI to add ChatGPT to Siri.

Perica will remain at Apple to oversee iCloud, Fitness+ and Apple News, which he has done since 2023, and will now report to App Store and Services head Eddy Cue. While Perica reported to Tim Cook in his M&A role, Smith will report to Apple CFO Kevan Parekh as M&A moves back to the finance division.

Carson Oliver is promoted to vice president of the ‌App Store‌, and he has been in charge of the ‌App Store‌ since Phil Schiller resigned as head of the ‌App Store‌ in late August. Oliver reports to Cue, who now oversees the ‌App Store‌ and other services.

According to BloombergCue is evaluating potential successors and Perica is one of the leading candidates. Oliver Schusser, head of Apple Music, is also in the running.
