Apple releases MagSafe 3 charging cable firmware update

For the first time since February 2023, Apple has released a firmware update for the MagSafe 3 charging cable for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

Specifically, Apple released firmware version 3.2.0 for the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable last week. The previous firmware version for the cable was 3.1.12.

It’s unclear what exactly is included in the latest firmware, as Apple doesn’t release release notes on it. The update will be installed automatically over time when the cable is connected to a Mac and a power adapter. There is no way to apply it manually.

Apple does not expose the MagSafe cable firmware version in the macOS System Information tool.
