Amazon’s latest Kindle accessories bring physical buttons back to its e-readers

BookTok will probably rejoice.

In addition to a range of revamped Kindles today, Amazon also revealed a few new accessories intended to make reading a lot easier. The most intriguing of these is the Kindle Click: a Bluetooth remote that connects to your e-readers and lets you flip through pages without having to grab your device. The company also introduced a case with physical buttons (called Page-Turn-Cover) and wireless charging support. The latter two will only work with Kindle Signature Editions launching today that have pogo pins.

The Kindle Click is pretty simple, and like the version Kobo announced last year, it comes with an attached wrist strap so you don’t have to worry about holding it while you read in your airplane seat, for example. Pair the Click with your compatible Kindle via Bluetooth and press the corresponding button to go to the previous or next page. It will work with all Kindles currently on the market, as well as all new models introduced today.

Unlike the Kobo remote, the Kindle Click’s buttons are equal in size. It will cost $35, which is $5 more than Kobo’s.

The Page-Turn-Cover will work, as I mentioned, only with the new Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Edition models that have pogo pins. The case attaches magnetically to the device, thanks to the aluminum casing of these higher-end models. It costs a pretty penny, though, at $80.

Finally, the charging stand that was also introduced today for the Signature Editions of Paperwhite and Colorsoft will not only charge them via the pogo pins but also support them. This way, when paired with Click, you can set up your Kindle and browse pages without having to reach for your device.

All of the devices Amazon announced today are available for pre-order now, and the accessories I’ve covered here will all be ready to ship on October 28.
