If you’re planning to buy a new pair of headphones in 2026, opting for one of Bose’s most popular options may be a great idea. It’s important, however, to determine which Bose offerings are actually worth the asking price. If you haven’t used Bose headphones in the past, you may be entering the brand’s lineup for the first time. Or maybe you’ve used Bose headphones before and just want to upgrade to a newer option.
Well, the good news is that most of Bose’s best headphones, including the QuietComfort and QuietComfort Ultra, remain easy recommendations. The QuietComfort Ultra 2nd Gen and QuietComfort 2nd Gen both launched in August 2026, and while they are well-received by most consumers, both options still cost $350 or more with no discounts.
Even at almost $400, the QuietComfort Ultra 2nd Gen offers some of the best battery life ever in Bose headphones and may be worth it if you want premium headphones with excellent noise cancellation and the newest option Bose offers. However, if you’re not sure whether upgrading to the 2nd generation is worth it, or you just want the same Bose quality while saving money, opting for a slightly older generation can still give you bang for your buck.

There are many reasons to love Bose headphones. Not only are they generally highly rated by users, but they are also considered one of the most reliable wireless headphone brands on the market. And this reliability is clearly visible even with its older headphones, like the first generation of the QuietComfort Ultra. I’ve been using my QuietComfort Ultras since 2024 and despite constant daily use, the battery still lasts several hours between charges and the earbuds remain as comfortable as the day I bought them.
Sound quality also continues to be one of the great strengths of Bose headphones, not to mention what users say about their long lifespan. They’re also very customizable, especially if you set them up with a third-party equalizer. And if you don’t want to use them wirelessly, you can always connect them via cable to your PC or laptop. Even though Bose no longer sells these headphones directly on its website, you can still find them available online, such as on Amazon.
They are often on sale, usually ranging in price from $250 to $330. So even at the higher retail price, you can buy the first generation of the QuietComfort Ultra for less than the more affordable second-generation option from Bose. Users also rate them highly, with one user even calling them the “Goldilocks” of noise-canceling headphones during their review on Best Buy.
