A few months after rolling out subscription-based features for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, Meta is adding a new range of subscriptions to its paid offerings. The company introduced a new batch of “Meta One” plans aimed at creators, businesses, and “AI power users.”
New subscription levels combine exclusive features with expanded access to Meta’s growing range of AI tools. In a blog post, the company writes that its core apps and Meta AI “will remain free,” but that there will be additional benefits for those willing to pay a little (or a lot) more.
The exact amount depends on how you use Meta apps and what features you want. The company still offers “single product plans,” which include Facebook Plus ($3.99/month), Instagram Plus ($3.99/month), and WhatsApp Plus ($2.99/month). But it’s now adding “bundles” options that combine all of these benefits with additional use of meta-AI for tasks like AI image and video generation. These include a new “Core” plan ($7.99/month) and a “Premium” tier ($19.99/month).
There are four additional tiers aimed specifically at creators and business owners. The Meta One “Essential” plan ($14.99/month) combines some of the benefits of Meta Verified subscriptions with its latest AI offerings, including the company’s sales agent.
Meanwhile, premium plans include some features that businesses and creators have long hoped for. For example, the “Advanced” business plan for Instagram ($49.99/month) includes the ability to schedule Story posts and the ability to embed four clickable URLs in post captions and Reels each month. The company began testing the latter feature earlier this year as part of Meta Verified. The “Advanced” and “Expert” tiers ($149/month) also offer the ability to delegate account access to additional people without needing to provide a password. Other benefits include notifications when another account reposts your original content and greater visibility in Instagram’s in-app search.
Finally, the most expensive Meta One “Max” plan ($499/month) combines all the benefits of the plans detailed above, plus the highest capacity access to Meta’s sales agents. It also offers a benefit that has proven particularly elusive for Instagram creators: an “unlimited” ability to ask for help from a real human, as well as the ability to request a real phone call with “a real person” who works for the company.
The new subscriptions are a significant expansion for Meta, which has been testing Meta One plans alongside some of its more resource-intensive AI offerings, like image and video generation. And while it’s unclear whether Meta’s AI features alone are much of a draw for users, the company says its early projects have already gained traction with more than 15 million signups for subscriptions and trial memberships.
Meta also plans to expand subscriptions to cover more than its core applications. The company says subscription-based features will eventually arrive for its video editing app, Edits, as well as its AI glasses.
