Download the Media Creation Tool
Head over to Microsoft’s Download Windows 11 page, where you’ll see three options. The former is for installing Windows 11 on your current machine, while the latter downloads an ISO for advanced use. We will come back to this later; for now, click Download now below Create Windows 11 installation media. This gives you a small file called MediaCreationTool.exe.
Run the tool as administrator
Right-click on the downloaded file and select Run as administrator. Do not skip this step, as the tool will not work properly without administrator rights. It should ask you for administrator privileges if you open it normally, but it’s better to be sure. Once the tool is loaded, read the license terms and click Accept to continue.
Select a USB stick
On the Select language and edition screen, the Use the recommended options the box must already be checked and the correct language indicated; uncheck this and change it if necessary. On the next screen, choose USB key. If you haven’t plugged in the player yet, do so now, then click Following and choose it from the list.
Double-check that you have chosen the correct drive, as this tool will erase everything on it.
Wait for the download and creation process
From there, the tool begins downloading Windows 11 and writing a bootable version of it to your USB drive. This may take a while depending on your internet connection speed, PC performance, and USB write speeds. Let it run without interruption.
You are ready to install Windows 11
Once finished, the tool will confirm that your USB drive is ready; click Finishing. You can now use your Windows 11 bootable USB drive on the PC where you want to install the operating system. Connect it to the target PC, then when booting, press the key that allows you to boot from an external device (depending on the machine this may be Escape, F12, Delor something else). Choose to boot from the USB drive, then go through the process once you enter the Windows installation environment.
