We expect details on “Ocarina of Time” and other Zelda projects during the 30-minute stream.
Sometimes there’s just too much news for just one Nintendo Direct, so the company is doubling down by releasing two streams this week. Before taking a look at other games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in a regular livestream on Wednesday, Nintendo will provide information on several Legend of Zelda projects with a dedicated showcase for this franchise.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct will begin at 10 a.m. ET on September 8 and will last approximately 30 minutes. You can watch it on YouTube or Nintendo Today! application. Alternatively, you can simply click the play button on the video below when the time comes.
Nintendo has confirmed that we will learn more about its remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during this live. A release date announcement seems likely, as the game is expected to debut this year. If we stick to this window, I imagine Nintendo will release the remake before the end of November so that it will be in stores in time for Black Friday.
The company has already Nintendo Switch Sports Station on the October agenda, it may just be a matter of trying to counter-program Grand Theft Auto 6 with a release in November. THE Ocarina of time remake is one of the few games that could distract from Rockstar’s next blockbuster, in part because the titles will be available on different platforms.
Let’s not forget that Zelda will also be released on the big screen next year. The Legend of Zelda will be released in theaters on April 30, and we should find out more details about the film during this Direct. I think we’ll get a short teaser now and the first real trailer in a few months.
Half an hour is a lot of time to spend on these two projects, so maybe Nintendo will have something else up its sleeve to help mark Zelda’s 40th anniversary. For example, maybe we’ll hear about a remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Nintendo could also start teasing the next mainline Zelda game. The company officially announced what would become Tears of the Kingdom in 2019, two years after the release of Breath of the Wild. It’s now been three years since we first dove into Link’s latest adventure, so the timing is lining up for the first official word on the next one (or maybe Zelda will take center stage again).
