The retailer has finally joined the YouTube Shopping affiliate program.
YouTube has landed one of the biggest wins possible for its e-commerce platform for creators. The video network’s CEO Neal Mohan announced today on X that Amazon is now a member of the YouTube Shopping affiliate program.
With this change, eligible YouTube creators will be able to link to Amazon product listings from their videos. Videos, short films, and live streams on YouTube can now all bookmark items on Amazon, with the creator earning commission on any purchases made from their links. Given the retailer’s volume of business, this could be a nice addition for viewers who want to make a purchase based on recommendations from content creators, as well as a way for those creators to earn additional income.
In March, YouTube lowered the subscription threshold for creators to participate in the e-commerce system, making it more accessible to more accounts that could earn through the program. According to the press release we received from the company, more than a million people have signed up to participate in YouTube Shopping and the recently launched affiliate program in Argentina, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
