BenQ today announced the launch of the iScreenBar, which it says is the first monitor light bar designed for the iMac.
The iScreenBar is meant to feel like an extension of the iMac, offering desktop lighting that doesn’t conflict with the iMac’s design and doesn’t block the camera or microphone. It is made of aluminum and illuminates an area of 33.5 x 19.7 inches at 500 lux. A glass touchscreen is available for settings, and there’s also a macOS app for adjusting brightness, color temperature, and lighting mode.
It turns on and off using presence detection and can also activate when the iMac wakes up, and it dims or brightens as the lighting in the room changes. In video call mode, evens out lighting and reduces reflections on the face for a better picture when the camera is in use.

The light bar mounts to the back of the iMac using a magnetic clamp and comes with a magnetic cable clip to hide cords. BenQ claims that asymmetrical optics illuminate the user’s desktop without shining onto the screen or into the eyes to reduce glare and preserve color accuracy. It’s powered by the iMac’s USB-C port, which also allows automatic activation of camera mode.
The iScreenBar can be purchased from BenQ or Amazon for $189. It is compatible with the 24-inch iMac (2021 and later).
