Anker is one of the most famous mobile accessory brands in the world and is continually releasing cool new gadgets that make life a little easier. However, the Anker brand isn’t the only sheriff in town, facing tough competition from Baseus. Where does this competitor come from? Is Baseus a Chinese company?
In short, yes. Shenzhen Baseus Technology Co., operating in Shenzhen (as its name suggests), has a trademark for the Baseus name for a whole bunch of products. The short list includes Baseus peripherals, chargers, screen protectors, audio devices, and more. Along with Anker Innovations (which accounted for 14% of the total power bank revenue share in North America in 2025), Baseus is among the most popular charger and battery brands owned by Chinese companies.
Founded in 2011, the company recently took a big step forward, with one of its most notable (and successful) moments being a partnership with Bose. This collaboration resulted in the launch of Baseus’ Inspire series, which includes the well-reviewed Baseus Inspire XH1 noise-cancelling headphones. Audiophiles may hate Bose, but that doesn’t matter much, because having a “by Bose” label was a solid move that helped Baseus establish some credibility with high-end consumer segments.
Is Baseus as good as Anker?
Generally speaking, many people are satisfied with Baseus products. Of course, some think its build quality is inferior to Anker’s in many areas, but users still claim that some Baseus brand power banks have lasted them for years. However, personal experiences are one thing and controversy is another, as Baseus had issues with some products in 2024. How bad was it? Well, some of its wireless power banks posed a fire risk and were therefore recalled in the UK and EU. To rub salt in the wound, the UK government said Baseus did not comply with local safety regulations.
This did not prevent the company from continuing its truck operations. It recently expanded its production globally to increase its bottom line. This is nothing new, as many Chinese companies are trying to target overseas markets to escape cutthroat price competition at home. Whether Baseus’ efforts will bear fruit remains to be seen, and the company is unlikely to overtake Anker any time soon. With 14% of the U.S. wireless power bank market revenue, Anker is a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, Baseus shares 48% of revenue with 16 other companies, including big names like Xiaomi.
