Apple “has just laid off an entire team dedicated to VR development”, reports woozadciting his own source. Apple has reportedly laid off at least 60 employees from its Apple Vision group.
Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman previously reported that the Vision Pro team had been disbanded and its members redistributed among other projects, following the Vision Pro’s October 2025 refresh and the headset’s poor reception.
Apple’s new CEO John Ternus also reportedly approved the cancellation of a second Vision Pro and a cheaper, thinner “Vision Air,” with the focus now shifting to smart glasses. Gurman doesn’t expect Apple to release another headset until late 2028 at the earliest.
