This is part of the company’s latest initiatives to create more business-friendly AI tools.
Meta deploys a standalone desktop application for Meta AI. The new Mac app is part of the company’s latest efforts to provide AI tools to business owners and creators who rely on Facebook and Instagram.
The Mac app brings a few new features over Meta AI’s existing website and mobile app. For example, it allows users to share part of their screen so that the assistant can “see” what they are working on and provide more precise answers. Meta says this feature should be particularly useful to businesses so they can get advice on creating posts, announcements, and other content.
The company also gives Meta AI the ability to leverage more business-friendly features, including its own analytics and advertising tools. People with Facebook and Instagram business accounts can now connect Meta AI to Google Workspace and extract documents, spreadsheets, and other data relevant to their work.
All this, according to Meta, will help companies better manage their advertising campaigns and get advice tailored to their business. “You can ask Meta AI questions about your business and get answers drawn from the context only Meta has, like your account engagement and ad performance,” Meta explains in a blog post. “Beyond your own accounts, you can get publicly available information about comparable brands and how they are building their presence on Meta.”
This update is part of Meta’s latest initiatives to introduce its AI tools to the millions of people who use its applications to run and market their businesses. The company also recently launched an AI coding agent that is cheaper than competing products. And Mark Zuckerberg said he wanted the company’s agents to be able to “manage your entire business.” The move could also attract more people to Meta’s AI subscription offerings. Although the new Mac app is free, the company has slowly introduced rate limits for its more advanced AI features that require a Meta One plan.
