The Season 4 premiere of Ted Lasso was Apple’s most popular TV premiere to date, according to Nielsen viewing data sent by Apple to Deadline. The show racked up 296.6 million minutes of viewing in the United States during the August 4-5 launch window. It beat the previous season premieres of Ted Lasso, as well as the premieres of Severance and Pluribus.
On August 5 alone, the first episode was the most streamed program in the United States with over 200 million minutes watched.
Season 4 premiered more than three years after the Season 3 finale aired, but the long hiatus doesn’t seem to have soured Ted Lasso fans. It initially seemed like Season 3 might be the final season of the series, so a Season 4 was more of a surprise than an expectation.
In season four, the series returns to its underdog roots with Ted Lasso returning to Richmond to coach a second division women’s soccer team.
Two episodes of season 4 are now available and new episodes are released every Wednesday.
