Even if you’re just looking for a simple option for basic navigation like the IdeaPad, the Lenovo badge alone may be enough to entice you to bite the bullet and buy one. Do laptops live up to their reputation for being tough as nails? Sure, many Lenovo computers can last more than five years, but does that apply to non-premium products? What do the real owners say?
In short, the ThinkPad series certainly deserves the hype. A lengthy Reddit thread on ThinkPad lifespan states that the device can last 10 years or more. Surprisingly, there is one person who claims their oldest ThinkPad is a year away from legally drinking (20 years old). Keep in mind that a likely factor in this insane lifespan is the modularity of the design, as most of the Lenovo ThinkPad’s components can be replaced. Unfortunately, many users complain that newer models now come with soldered RAM, meaning it has become much more difficult to perform indefinite updates.
And the other series? Legion gaming laptops can easily last five years, according to owners posting on Reddit – if you take good care of them, at least. Other budget-oriented series also seem reliable. There are, of course, complaints about the cheaper build quality of ThinkBook and IdeaPad laptops, but few premature malfunctions.
