Little by little, Windows 11 is healing.
Microsoft has announced that a number of new adjustments will be made to the Windows Search box in Windows 11. Each individual item is a minor improvement, but we hope that overall the changes will contribute to a better search experience. Windows Insider Program members can start seeing the changes starting today.
The entire Windows search box user experience will be streamlined. The home screen has been cleaned up for less visual clutter, which should make recent searches easier to access. The results display also looks cleaner, with more spacing creating space to display useful metadata for hits. Users can now choose whether they want to see web and Microsoft Store visits alongside local results. Web searches will no longer show sponsored content such as products and promotions at the top of results. The improved search should also make it easier to find both files and apps.
After a long, unsuccessful attempt to try to make Copilot a reality, Microsoft has shifted its focus to improving the quality of life of Windows 11. There have been incremental updates, such as allowing users to adjust the size of the Start menu, as well as more significant changes such as a system for rolling back broken drivers.
