This year’s event begins at 6 p.m. ET.
Google will announce the next generation of its Pixel devices on August 12, the company announced today. Unlike previous years, the search giant plans to hold the launch during the evening, meaning you won’t need to take time off work to see what the company’s hardware team has been working on over the past year.
Given the memory shortages that have caused the price of consumer electronics to skyrocket, this year’s Pixel event is expected to be more low-key. A recent report suggests that Google will not offer any 128GB variants of the new Pixel phones. Instead, base models will start at 256GB. Any other time, that would be great news, but so Google should charge more for the new phones. A recent leak also suggested that the company might reduce the amount of RAM included in certain configurations, but fortunately this particular rumor hasn’t gained much traction in recent weeks. On a more positive note, Google will reportedly update the Pixel 10’s aging Tensor processor, but the updates appear modest.
Of course, take all preliminary leaks with a grain of salt. We’ll have a much better idea of what the new Pixels offer on August 12.
