You can now ask another chatbot which restaurant to try.
Meta has just announced a suite of AI tools for Facebook users. Nothing here seems particularly new, but the availability on Facebook might be useful to some power users.
First, there’s the simply named AI mode. This is a standard chatbot that answers questions, Meta using the example that everyone uses when deploying one of these tools. The company features a person asking the chatbot for nearby summer vacation spots.
Meta says AI Mode pulls data from all of its apps, like Groups and Reels, so perhaps the information provided will be slightly different than when asked about summer getaways via Gemini, Claude, Grok, ChatGPT and all the rest. The company promises “real insights and experience rather than a generic list of search results.” All of this is powered by Meta’s recently announced Muse Spark technology.
The update also includes photo editing features, as that tends to be the other big selling point of these tools beyond “find me a place to vacation.” There are new collage cutout templates for editing camera roll photos and new transition effects for creating “smooth, stylish video montages ready to share.” Meta says it can create these videos with a single click.
Finally, there are new photo presets that “make it easier to change clothes, hair, and accessories with AI.” Meta offers this for sports fans, so people “can easily represent your fandom and virtually wear a team jersey to celebrate.” Nothing says real fandom like a fake jersey.
This is launching now for Facebook mobile users. We don’t know if there’s a version available on the web, but that would probably be difficult since computers don’t tend to have film or anything like that.
